Pentest Findings to Jira,
Without Copy and Paste

Push approved pentest findings to Jira Cloud or Jira Data Center as issues in the project you choose, with your field mapping, evidence screenshots, and no duplicates.

Jira + Neuron

Approve Once. Ticketed in Jira.

Developers fix what is in their Jira backlog. A pentest report that only exists as a PDF is not in anyone's backlog. The Neuron Jira connector turns each approved finding into a Jira issue, in the project and issue type you choose.

Summary, description, priority, and custom fields are filled from your own field mapping. Evidence screenshots upload to the issue as attachments, and pushing the finding again after an edit updates the same issue rather than filing a new one.

It works with Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center. Neuron calls the Jira REST API straight from your own server, with an API token or a personal access token, so there is no plugin to install in Jira and no third-party relay.

The Problem

Why Findings Stall Before Jira

Every pentest ends with the same handoff. The report goes to the security lead, and the security lead turns it into Jira tickets so engineering will actually see it. That means one issue per finding, written by someone who did not do the testing, under time pressure.

Severity becomes a priority someone picked. The description loses its formatting, the request that proves the bug gets summarised instead of attached, and the affected endpoints are trimmed to fit. Engineering then asks the tester what the ticket means, and the tester is already on the next engagement.

Three months later nobody can match a Jira issue to the finding it came from, so the retest starts with a spreadsheet that maps one to the other by hand.

What Lands in Jira

Every Approved Finding, In Jira

Approved findings push to Jira with your own field mapping, and later pushes update the same record.

One Issue Per Finding

Each approved finding becomes an issue in the Jira project and issue type you pick: Bug, Task, or a Vulnerability issue type your team created for security work.

Fields Mapped Your Way

Title to summary, Observations to description, severity to priority through a Severity Map, plus any finding, engagement, or custom field to a Jira field or customfield ID.

Evidence Screenshots

PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP images from the mapped document fields attach to the Jira issue, up to 20 per push, so the proof sits next to the ticket.

Templated Summaries

Build the summary from placeholders such as {findingNumber}, {severity}, and {engagementName}, so every issue from one engagement is easy to filter in JQL.

Finding ID on the Issue

Map Finding ID to a custom field and every Jira issue carries the finding it came from. Neuron uses it to find the issue again and to stop duplicates after a timeout.

Links Back to the Issue

Every pushed finding links to its Jira issue key, and the engagement's Findings list shows a Ticket column with each issue and any push still in flight.

Setup

How to Push Findings to Jira

  1. 01

    Create a Jira integration account

Use a dedicated Jira account with the Browse Projects, Create Issues, Edit Issues, and Create Attachments permissions on each target project. On Jira Cloud, create an API token for it. On Jira Data Center, create a personal access token.

  2. 02

    Add the Jira connection

In Admin Center, open Workflow Integrations and add a Jira connection with your site URL. Enter the account email and API token for Jira Cloud, or the personal access token for Data Center, then run Test Connection against the project.

  3. 03

    Build a push profile

Choose the project and issue type, click Load Defaults, and map Finding ID to the custom field you use for correlation. Add the priority Severity Map and any custom fields, and turn on Attach evidence images.

  4. 04

Push by hand or by rule

Push one finding, a selection, or every approved finding from the Push Findings menu. Or build routing rules so web app findings go to one project and infrastructure findings to another, pushed the moment QA approves them.

Self-Hosted

Your Infrastructure. Your Data.

Neuron connects to Jira from your own server over HTTPS, through your outbound proxy when one is configured. Only approved findings are pushed, and only the fields you map.

Jira needs the Workflow Integrations module on your Neuron server.

Remediation

From Report to Remediation

The Jira issue stays linked to its finding. Update the finding, push again, and the same issue is updated. Fields marked Create only, such as an assignee or sprint the engineering team sets themselves, are never overwritten by a later push.

Push History records every created, updated, skipped, and failed push, with the exact fields sent and the screenshots that uploaded. When Jira Cloud rate limits a burst of pushes, Neuron waits as long as Jira asks and retries, and a rejected field stops at once with Jira's own error so the mapping can be fixed and the push retried.

At retest time, record the result on the finding and push it again. The mapped status lands on the same Jira issue, so engineering, the security lead, and the client portal all agree on what was fixed.

Jira Integration FAQ

The questions teams ask most about Jira and Neuron.

How do I turn a pentest report into Jira tickets?

Connect Jira under Workflow Integrations in the Neuron Admin Center and build a push profile for the target project and issue type. Approved findings then push from the engagement's Push Findings menu, or automatically through routing rules, and each one becomes a Jira issue with your field mapping and evidence attached. The connector needs the Workflow Integrations module on your Neuron server.

Does the Neuron Jira integration work with Jira Data Center as well as Jira Cloud?

Yes. Jira Cloud connections sign in with an account email and API token, and Jira Data Center connections use a personal access token. A Data Center instance on a private network is reached directly from your Neuron server.

Can different pentest findings go to different Jira projects?

Yes. Create a push profile per Jira project or issue type, then write routing rules on severity, client, assessment, or custom fields. The first matching rule sends the finding to every profile it targets, so one engagement can feed several Jira projects.

Will pushing a finding again create a duplicate Jira issue?

No. A finding that already has a Jira issue from a profile updates that issue. With Finding ID mapped to a custom field, Neuron also searches for an existing issue before it retries a create that timed out, so a dropped connection never leaves two issues behind.

Are evidence screenshots attached to the Jira issue?

Yes, when Attach evidence images is on in the push profile. PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP images from the mapped document fields upload as Jira attachments, up to 25 MB each and 20 per push, and Jira's own attachment size limit applies too. Push History lists any image that could not be attached.

Does finding data pass through a third-party service on the way to Jira?

No. Neuron is self-hosted and calls the Jira REST API straight from your server over HTTPS, through your own outbound proxy when one is configured. There is no Neuron cloud, Jira plugin, or middleware in between.
